About our school

Ohio's 2024-25 state report card gave Lake Erie College Preparatory School 5 Stars in Progress and 5 Stars in Gap Closing, the highest ratings the state awards. It's a tuition-free public charter school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Cleveland. Ohio grades every public school annually on growth and equity, and on both counts this school earned the top marks.

This is a High Academics school. That means the day is built around strong instruction in the core subjects: reading, writing, and math. Teachers are in the room to move every student forward, not to cover material and move on. When a child is behind, the work is catching him or her up. When a child is ahead, the work is pushing him or her further. That's not enrichment added on top. That's how the school runs.

It's a publicly funded school. There's no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.

Community School

Lake Erie Preparatory School is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the Ohio Council of Community Schools which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States. Community Schools (Charter Schools) offer families an alternative to the local public school. Community schools are tuition-free, open to all students in the county, and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation. Mission

Founded in 2014, ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter school management organization (CMO) serving students across the United States in brick-and-mortar, virtual, and hybrid school settings.
